Happiness is EASIER than you think

Before we tackle the fourth step of the ‘EASIER’ way to happiness tool, let’s recap and reflect on how well you have managed the first two parts of this six part guide…

Part 1: Engage and enjoy
Part 2: Attitude and action
Part 3: Screen and simplify

How are you doing? Where would you still like to improve? For me, part 1 and part 2 are my easiest steps to take. Part 3 is the trickiest and I have to be vigilant about it. Remember that happiness is up to you. You have the power to choose to be happy and to create the reality you want and deserve. Keep at it, keep on taking Key Steps and make sure you also

Follow the ‘EASIER’ way to happiness – Part 4: Invest wisely

  1. Invest in relationships. Surround yourself with happy people. Being around happy people who are content buoys your own mood. And by being happy yourself, you give something back to those around you. Friends and family help you celebrate life’s successes and support you in difficult times. Although it’s easy to take friends and family for granted, these relationships need nurturing. Build up your ’emotional account’ with acknowledgements, kind words and actions. Be careful and gracious with critique. Let people know that you appreciate what they do for you or even just that you’re glad they’re part of your life

  2. Cut ties. Some people in your life are better loved from a distance. It’s amazing how much happier you can be when you let go of, or at least minimise time spent with draining, negative, incompatible, not going anywhere relationships or friendships. As you reflect on your relationships, ask… Which ones encourage you and which ones discourage you? Who energises and who drains? Who lifts you up and who brings you down? The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind love and happiness… the easier it will become for you to cut ties and invest in the ‘right’ relationships. Remember that the people you surround yourself with will affect every aspect of your life, from your self-esteem to your wealth. Who do you choose to invest in, start with you and make yourself happy so that you can
