Put the spring back in a non-performers step
- D = Develop. Development is two-fold. You need to engage in continual self-development and then develop others. It is important to walk your talk and not expect others to be growing if you are not leading the way. Also, remember that empowering people by giving them a voice, involving them and inspiring them is not enough. You must train and coach others (and yourself) to enhance learning ability and performance.
- How can you do this? As Brian Tracy says, help people answer one of the greatest questions you will ever ask and answer, “What one skill, if I developed and did it in an excellent fashion, would have the greatest positive impact on my career/life?” As a coach, you must help your people grow and achieve more by inspiring them, asking effective questions and providing feedback.
